Is there a way to leave an auto at my country property without having varmints eat thru the electrical wiring?

I would like to leave an old car at my northern Michigan cottage in the woods. In the past, I have had trouble with mice, woodchucks, etc. eating through the insulation on the electrical wiring, causing short circuiting. I would have to leave the car outside (only during Spring, Summer and Fall). This would allow me to have local transportation for fishing, shopping, etc. in the event that I wished to stay at the cottage while my wife returned to the city for a while.

Answer:
Dig a 6" trench around the car .Cover the car with a tarp.Bury the edges in the trench with pea gravel or sand(which should be plentiful in theU.P. It will help but the only real solution is to POISON ALL RODENTS!
