RM Cores are designed to utilize the surface area on the PCB more economically. The
sizes are based on the standard PCB grid distance. For example RM7 fits on a board space
of 7 x 7 modules of 2.5mm grid. The core center hole is necessary for filter inductor
applications. Core performance can be improved by using a solid center post for
wideband and power transformer applications. Wide slots increase the area for leads
but also reduce the shielding.
