Genalex Alloy
Genalex ring cores are made by highly compacting insulated alloy powder. The alloy is 70 to
75% nickel. The remainder being iron with a small percentage of copper and molybdenum.
This material offers higher saturation flux density, higher Curie temperature and better thermal stability than ferrite, but does not have the exceptionally low losses of ferrite. Genalex cores are used mainly in filters working at relatively high levels and also in SMPS transformers, particularly in aerospace applications. The enamel finish, withstands 500V at 50 Hz applied between diametrically opposite coils of bare copper wire and also works up to a temperature of 200°C. This range of cores is colour coded grey and each core is printed with size and material grade, e.g. G29N. If individual AL values are required to be printed on each core, use /J after the code, e.g. G29N/J. The tolerance on these values is +/- 2%. If a device is required which differs in any respect from the following specifications than a code in the G100 series will be allocated. |
