Electrical Engineering

Electrical engineering is a branch of knowledge of engineering which deals with application of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism. Electrical engineering is considered to deal with large-scale electrical systems, for example power transmission and motor control. The most important issue in electric engineering is using electricity to transmit energy.

Usually, electrical engineers have an academic degree with a major in electrical engineering. The studies usually take four or five years and as the result of these studies a person will get a Bachelor of Science degree. Usually students specialize in one or more sub-disciplines towards the end of the degree. It is aslo possible to continue your studies and get a Master of Science degree.

There are some variations among different countries and regions in requirements which are made for electrical engineers but general rules are similar everywhere.

There are two important authorities that produce literature concidering electrical engineering. These are Institute of Electrical Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE). IEEE produces about 30% of the electrical engineering literature all over the world and it has more than 300 conferences all over the world every year. IEE, however, publishes 14 journals and claims to be the biggest proffessional engineering society in Europe.

Electrical engineering also has sub-disciplines. Some electrical engineers concentrate on one of these sub-diciplines but most of them deal with variation of them.
