Electrical contractor is a person who places, installs, erects and/or connects wires, apparatus and every other device which generate, transform or utilize any form of electrical energy.
Electrical contractors work closely with architects, consultants and suppliers of electrical equipment. Electrical contractor has a freedom to employ electricians to carry out electrical work under his or her contractor’s licence, however he/she must be convinced that the employee has necessary qualification to perform his/her duties.
There are strict directions which every electrical contractor have to follow. Neglecting these obligations may incur penalises or, in worst case, losing their licence as an electrical contractor.
Some of these directions are:
* The holder of electrical contractor’s licence must perform the electrical work electrically safe for both, people and buildings.
* A person with electrical contractor’s licence must cooperate with electrical inspectors.
* The holder of the licence must make sure that incompetent persons do not repair electrical devices on their own and must stop the person who is trying to do so.
* It is forbidden to tamper a meter, control apparatus or a fuse. Finding traces of such activities, electrical contractor must immediately report of the act to his/her authorities.
* Electrical contractor can not do the job when his/her licence is expired.
